“Simple is difficult,” says Harakawa, explaining, “the simplest, most elegant solution to a particular design problem is usually the result of a complex process of analysis, exploration, testing, and rethinking.”
Ann has more than 20 years of experience directing large-scale information design and visioning programs. With an inclusive approach and strategic mindset, she’s earned her reputation as a valued consultant to architects, developers, and leaders in business and the public sector who have to communicate complex messages to diverse constituents.
“As we search for the design that delights the eye, and that is practical, buildable, and sustainable, we listen carefully to our clients. We identify their needs and the needs of their users. We collaborate with our clients—a process that we really enjoy.”
Ann attended Punahou School in Hawaii, earned a BFA at the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA at Yale University. She used a Fulbright Scholarship to work with leading designers in Japan. She is a member of the Board of The Art Directors Club and a strong supporter of AIGA and SEGD.
