TWELVE'S DAVID GIBSON ELECTED TO NATIONAL BOARD OF THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE
OF GRAPHIC ARTS

NY, 1 July, 2004—Two Twelve Associates (http://www.twotwelve.com),
New York City-based public information design firm, announces that its
founding principal and manaaging partner, David Gibson, has been elected
to the National Board of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA).
The AIGA is the largest and oldest association of professional designers
in the United States.
"The
most distinctive and relevant experiences I bring to the AIGA Board are
those I've had as a design firm founder and managing principal for more
than
24 years; as an active member and past officer of the Society for Environmental
Graphic Design (SEGD; and as the project lead on numerous inter-disciplinary
design programs for public sector clients," Mr. Gibson says.
Mr. Gibson's nomination to the board was approved by the AIGA's more than
16,000 members to serve on the national board for a three-year term
(2004-2006).
During this period, he and his 14 fellow board members are responsible
for:
• Determining the organization's mission and setting policies for
its
operation to establish its general course from year to year
• Establishing fiscal policy and boundaries,including budgets and
financial controls
• Providing adequate resources for the activities of the organization
through a commitment to fundraising
• Selecting, evaluating, appointing and, if necessary, terminating
the
organization's chief executive
• Developing and maintaining a communication link to the community
by
acting as an advocate on behalf of the AIGA
• Ensuring that the organization's charter and by-laws are being
followed.
While serving his term from 2004-2006, Mr. Gibson will continue to manage
his business at Two Twelve, leading teams of environmental graphic designers
on idenity, signage, wayfinding strategy planning and design projects
for a
variety of client organizations.
