TWELVE DESIGNS VISIONARY "PLANYC" FOR NEW YORK CITY MAYOR MICHAEL
R. BLOOMBERG New York, NY, December 19, 2006 Two Twelve, the New York City-based public information design firm, worked with Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg's Office to produce a groundbreaking strategic vision document that outlines goals for a sustainable New York City. "PlaNYC" sets forth broad goals for a cleaner, healthier, more reliable and greener city in the next 25 years. "Two Twelve is proud to have worked with the Mayor's Sustainability Advisory Board and the New York City Economic Development Corporation on this inspiring and informative message," says Ann Harakawa, who was the principal-in-charge on the design project. "This was an exceptionally welcome opportunity for Two Twelve to serve the public and promote sustainable practices through our communication design expertise." Ms. Harakawa's graphic design team, including Junior Associate Michelle Cates and Designer Whitney Grant, worked with staff at City Hall and the New York City Economic Development Corporation to organize and illustrate the information, call attention to key points, and make the content overall inviting and accessible. The publication designed by Two Twelve was released today as a supplement to more than 2,000,000 newspapers distributed citywide, including The New York Times, The Daily News, The New York Post, and El Diario. It introduces and complements additional material online at www.nyc.gov/planyc2030, and invites the public to get involved in making a difference in the future of the city. Mayor Bloomberg gave his first address on the topic, "New York City 2030: Accepting the Challenge" on December 12, 2006, at an event hosted by the League of Conservation Voters at the Queens Museum of Art in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
