Sarah Haun David Gibson Brings Wayfinding Message to Audiences Around the World New York, NY, September 18, 2009 – David Gibson, principal of Two Twelve, the New York City-based graphic design firm, continues a speaking tour that has spanned the globe since his acclaimed book, The Wayfinding Handbook: Information Design for Public Places, was published in February of this year. Following workshop and lecture engagements in the Southern United States, the Middle East, and Scandinavia in the Spring (see earlier releases), Mr. Gibson participated in the Kent State Summer Workshop on Wayfinding, Exhibition and Experience Design sponsored by SEGD (formerly the Society for Environmental Graphic Designers) and Kent State University in June. In September, he traveled to the Midwest US to introduce the discipline of environmental graphic design to a group of undergraduate students at Truman State College in Missouri, then to Memphis, Tennessee, to lead an Affinity Session at the AIGA National Conference (formerly American Institute of Graphic Arts). There he talked about "Design and Public Life" with Julie Lasky, the renowned design journalist, author, and editor of Change Observer, part of the Design Observer Group. In early October, Mr. Gibson flew to Beijing to participate in the Icograda World Congress (International Council of Graphic Design Associations), the timing of which coincided with the agreement to publish foreign language editions of The Wayfinding Handbook for Taiwan, Korea, and the People's Republic of China. Mr. Gibson is next slated to give a presentation at Sign09, the Signage and Wayfinding Design Week series of events being jointly organized by the International Institute for Information Design (IIID) and the Sign Design Society in Vienna, 3 - 11 December. He will talk on 4 December about "Finding the Hidden Logic" in urban environments to a diverse audience of academic and professional peers from around the world.
