New
York, NY,
19 September 2003
-- Two Twelve Associates, the New York The event is sponsored by the New York Chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA/NY) and will be held at the Katie Murphy Amphitheater in Building D on the Fashion Institute of Technology campus at 27th Street and Seventh Avenue on Wednesday September 24th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The panel will be moderated by Metropolis magazine editor Susan Szenasy, and will explore the roles and opportunities of graphics in (re)defining the World Trade Center site. As the site is reshaped, and as the buildings and memorial are designed and eventually built, they will acquire names: official names, corporate names, colloquial names. The panel discussion sponsored by the New York Chapter of the AIGA will cover the issues and interests involved in establishing the area’s new identity. Ann Harakawa is an expert in identity, signage and print communications design, having led the development of graphics for clients including the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, the New York City Housing Authority, Bellevue Hospital, Shea Stadium, and NYC2012, the city's bid for the summer 2012 Olympic Games. For this panel she will also draw on her experiences as a former downtown business owner. Two Twelve's offices at 90 West Street were destroyed on 9/11/01; the firm has since recovered and relocated to the Flatiron District. Along with Ms. Harakawa, there will be three other panelists: Rick Bell, the executive director of the American Institute of Architects New York Chapter; James Biber, an architect and partner in Pentagram; and Joshua Sirefman, Chief Operating Officer of the New York City Economic Development Corporation. The discussion
topic was the subject of front page article in the September 18, 2003
