Lincoln Center, New York's premier arts and theater destination, has been undergoing a tremendous transformation in recent years. Included in the latest wave of renovation was the former New York State Theater, which has been improved and renamed the David H. Koch Theater in honor of the donor's generosity.

Two Twelve's objectives for a wayfinding signage and donor recognition program were to improve the visitor experience, consolidate donor recognition, and develop a graphic language that would appear as though it had been part of Philip Johnson’s original 1964 building design. In addition to coordinating with the planners and architects Diller Scofidio + Renfro and JCJ Architecture, the work process required coordination with several stakeholders: the resident companies, the New York City Ballet and New York City Opera; the Theater management; and the City Center for Music and Drama.

For signage, the choices of typeface and materials are simple and modern. Whenever possible graphics and messages are integrated with the architecture. For example, seating information at Orchestra level entrances to the Auditorium are placed directly on the entrance jamb. The program complements the overall effort to modernize the facilities and enhance the theater experience for patrons and company members.
