Children’s commissioned Two Twelve to design a new wayfinding and signage system for its 130-year old, 5-building campus.
As a leading pediatric medical center, the facility must meet the often conflicting needs of physicians and young children, nursing staff and visiting family members, residents in training and service staff. The paths the various user groups take through the campus are many and complex, and the atmosphere is often highly emotional. New communication graphics had to address these constraints by providing clear, unambiguous direction.
After a thorough analysis of the facility and its users’ circulation patterns, we developed a design strategy geared primarily toward children and multicultural visitors.
We also developed the wayfinding and donor recognition signage programs for Karp Family Research Laboratories, a separate building designed by Tsoi Kobus Architects.
