Sustainable Design

The principles of sustainable design shape the way we approach all of our projects. Whether by specifying materials that have recycled content, selecting a fabricator located 50 instead of 500 miles from a sign installation site, or just choosing to e-mail instead of print a document, we seek to limit the impact of our work on human health and the natural environment.

Two Twelve realizes its environmental mission by:

  • considering the waste, pollution, energy consumption, and health implications of the decisions we make throughout all phases of the design process
  • recommending sustainable solutions to clients, collaborators, and peers
  • creating market demand for sustainable design by asking vendors to provide a larger range of environmentally responsible product and service options
  • actively educating ourselves about environmental issues and sustainable design practices
  • specifying end products that are naturally biodegradable or can be easily broken down into reusable raw materials
  • supporting ecologically sound office practices such as purchasing green products and services, and conserving energy and resources
  • designing without planned obsolescence whenever possible
  • taking a leadership role in our profession by becoming involved in green design initiatives and sharing knowledge and experience with others. We welcome you to join the discussion at our new GREENSPACE blog about sustainability.
