Wayfinding Systems
Signage and wayfinding design, also called Environmental Graphic Design (EGD), is the discipline of creating communication systems that help people as they approach a building or public place, enter it, and find a destination within it.
Our work in this area begins with research and planning to define project objectives and establish a wayfinding strategy. We then collaborate with client and project partners to design executions that integrate with the physical and cultural aspects of a place: its architecture, landscape, streetscape, constituencies, and identity. Finally, we ensure quality implementation by providing production and installation oversight.
The Wayfinding Handbook: Information Design for Public Places by David Gibson is Two Twelve’s useful guide to the discipline of EGD.
