Today, the Cincinnati Museum Center, hosting 1.4 million visitors every year, is a cultural and historical hub that connects the past to the present. Housed in the beautifully restored Union Terminal, the museum center offers a diverse range of exhibits and collections, bringing together the Museum of Natural History & Science, the Cincinnati Historical Society and History Museum, the Robert D. Lindner OMNIMAX Theatre and the Children’s Museum of Cincinnati.
During the building’s renovations from 2016 to 2018, Two Twelve was invited to develop a wayfinding system that supports the transformation of a historic transit hub into a modern museum center. While strategizing an approach, we understood historic preservation plays significant for this reimagining project. To honor the architectural legacy of the space, our signages are purposely designed to be versatile and timeless, exemplified by pylon signage placed independently from the walls.
