Building on our previous successes at the Consolidated Headquarters at St. Elizabeths campus, Two Twelve undertook the development of a graphics program that communicates the history and mission of the DHS, meets user needs, and integrates with the architectural context.

In order to celebrate the heritage, location and mission of the DHS, our creative, timeless graphic solution uses compelling graphic narrative and identity elements to establish a sense of place and help communicate the history and mission within the Department. During our effort, we created a balance between interpretive and narrative elements of the DHS mission and history. We then developed these visual narratives into a larger interpretive framework to link zones together through branded graphics that are both meaningful to the specific place and play off each other from site to site. Such visual continuities amplify the capacity of design to help people make connections as they move through a space.
